LIS 6511: Collection Development & Maintenance

❋

In this Community Needs Assessment, I analyzed demographic information about my neighborhood to determine what needs could be filled. I analyzed the city of Little Havana, a unique community in Miami consisting of majority Spanish-only speakers and migrants from Central America. This community is mostly low-income, with varying levels of education and access to technology at home. This assessment was used to later craft a Collection Development Policy.

Students evaluate and select print and digital information resources and systems to meet needs of users.

Goal Ii.B.

Using information gathered from the Community Needs Assessment, creating a Collection Development Policy challenged me to consider how those services serve the community, and how managers make those decisions.
